The North-Hungarian is a territorial organ of the management of water supplies and water conservancy. It is an independently managed and publicly financed institution, which operates on 10290 km2, organized on the watershed area. Its venue hydrographically include a part of the watershed basin on the right bank of Tisza river and on the Tisza's direct watershed area it comprise the rivers Bodrog, Sajó, Hernád; the Hungarian parts of Bódva and Ronyva streams; the Tarna, Eger, Laskó and Takta streams entire watershed basins.
Administratively the Directorate's venue is the whole Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, Heves county apart from 19 townships and 3 townships administrative area of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county. In this territory in 21 towns, 437 villages there lives more than one million people. The Directorate's deed of foundation was approved by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Water Conservancy. The Directorate is supervised and controlled by the Central Office of Water Conservancy and the Public Archives.
